This is very interesting. In Sri Caitanya Siksamrta, BVT explains that when one goes from varnasrama to vaidhi and vaidhi to raganuga bhakti, one continues to perform only those practices of the former stage which are conducive to the present stage. So, going from varnasrama to vaidhi, one gives up the consciousness of caste, and cultivates servant consciousness, and one no longer engages in worship of the demigods. In going from vaidhi to raganuga, one gives up thinking about Krsna's Dwaraka practices and worshiping His queens.
